Good News and Bad News About Habits
by Gene Griessman, Ph.D.
Sometimes less is more, and that certainly is true of today’s great quote. It’s a short one, but it contains a giant truth.
The good news is, if you habitually act with kindness, courtesy, and honesty, one fine day it will be impossible for you to be anything but kind, courteous, and honest.
Conversely, if you habitually act selfishly, rudely, and dishonestly, one day you automatically behave selfishly, rudely, and dishonestly. It will be impossible for you to do anything else.
Now here’s the quotation:
“Habit is a cable; we weave a thread of it each day, and at last we cannot break it.”–Horace Mann, American educator and reformer, 1796-1859
