Grover Norquist’s Pledge: Breaking Lifelong Promises

You have to feel for conscience-stricken Republican politicians who cannot bring themselves to break the no-tax pledge that they made to the lobbyist Grover Norquist.

But there is hope. A goodly number of these super-conscientious individuals are divorced, and have found that somehow life goes on even though they–like millions of Americans–have broken the “till death do us part” pledge.

Here’s what Abraham Lincoln, the first Republican president had to say on the subject: “Bad promises are better broken than kept.”
